April 04 Something Old is now Something New
I have thought about trying it again, over the years, but never have bothered. Until last night. Last night, after visiting the book store and feeling giddy with my 5 book purchase, I stopped in to an art supply store. Art supply stores can be dangerous for me because my imagination and creativity start going in to over drive and I want to buy everything and MAKE! As we were just about to turn around towards the entrance to leave, my eye caught an instruction book on the very thing my mother had taught me so long ago. It even came with everything I needed to get started. I’m sometimes very lazy so putting it all together for me is a grand way to get me to part with my money. So...I bought it. I’m going to try my hand at crocheting, again. Yes. I know. I almost feel ridiculous just saying it because it might tarnish my cool factor.... and it’s so not that interesting to many people but, I’m giving it a go. I got home, pulled the book out, read, fought with the stupid ass yarn that would not untangle to be rolled in to a ball, gave up and snipped part of it off, (who needs a crocheted change purse anyway?), just to get started learning. After a few struggles for the first loop, I actually managed to get about 10 loops going before the whole thing fell apart. I made absolutely nothing last night but I liked it. Heck, I’ve already got requests for instrument covers from the guy upstairs so I better start learning. And then the neighbors' cats will all get their own blankets. I don’t really know what else to make because I don’t know jack about the crocheting world but I’m sure I’ll find out in time. So.... the next couple of days I’ll be devouring my books and crocheting..... something. And maybe I’ll get really good at it and that will keep me off the streets and out of trouble. (For those of you who are still awake, yes, I know that my squealing about it makes me a dork. I’m fine with that.) Sometimes I Shock MyselfI just got a phone call a couple of days ago from my pen-pal of 3 years, and when she told me she was calling from Switzerland, I could feel myself starting to talk louder and louder until I was screaming, just in case she couldn't hear me all the way over there.
March 31 Shopping With MotherJust for GleeA blonde wanted to go ice fishing. She’d seen many books on the subject, and finally getting all the necessary tools together, she made for the ice. After positioning her comfy footstool, she started to make a circular cut in the ice. Suddenly, from the sky, a voice boomed, “THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE.”
Startled, the blonde moved further down the ice, Poured a thermos of cappuccino, and began to cut yet another hole. Again from the heavens the voice bellowed, “THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE.” The blonde, now worried, moved away, clear down to the opposite end of the ice. She set up her stool once more and tried again to cut hole. The voice came once more, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE.” She stopped, looked skyward, and said, “ IS THAT YOU LORD? “ The voice replied, "NO, THIS IS THE MANAGER OF THE HOCKEY RINK.” March 25 There's NO Comparison! |
